The Top Reasons To Own A Hybrid Car

By compudoor On August 11th, 2008

The rising cost of fuel and the obvious damage to the environment is one major reason why people are turning to hybrid cars for a change. This is a justified line of thought because hybrid cars do not need the conventional fuels to function; they work on electricity and due to this, hybrid cars help people save on fuel and also cause less pollution in the air. It works to preserve the environment and lifts the burden of having to fuel it endlessly with expensive fuel.

The engine of a hybrid car has an electric motor in conjunction with a gas engine; while this allows the vehicle to get as much power as needed, it saves on fuel emissions and usage. Actually, hybrid cars are more fuel efficient than cars that totally dependent on gas and they are also better to use than the cars that work totally on electricity. By using both electricity as well as gas, the vehicle pollutes the environment almost negligibly and helps save a lot on fuel consumption. Ever need to drive haltingly in heavy traffic? Then the hybrid cars are best for you because they save fuel and don\’t worry - you can drive them on the freeway too if you wish!

You can easily recharge your hybrid car by plugging the plug provided into an electric outlet. The car’s gasoline engine or the car itself can provide for the power that is lost due to continuous coasting and braking. Here are some reasons why the hybrid cars are considered to be much more beneficial and practical than the gasoline cars.

The carbon dioxide emanated by the vehicles is significant in causing the greenhouse effect, which in turn is responsible for causing a deterioration of the ozone layer. A vehicle will emanate carbon dioxide in direct proportion to the amount of fuel it uses up. Hybrid cars use as little fuel as possible and use more of electricity, a resource that is not known to have any detrimental repercussions on the environment.

Hybrid car purchases have tax deductions associated with them; so, you stand to make some real money benefits. You can get money selling a pre-owned hybrid car than it was bought for because these cars retain their resale value on the market. The engines of the hybrid cars are smaller than those of the gas powered cars because they depend on an alternative source of energy too. As the engines are used together with the electrical power, they are good performers, even though they are smaller in size.

The technology of the hybrid car is a very good answer to the present day problem of increasing pollution due to vehicle exhausts. By making less use of fuel, the fantastic technology behind hybrid cars make them special compared to the usual cars. Despite of many uses and advantages, there is one thing to be considered regarding the hybrid cars, its actual price in the market is not yet that affordable to many people, but it is an investment that will pay a hundred fold.

A Brief Guide to Hybrid Vehicles

By On August 2nd, 2008

Hybrid vehicles were the stuff of dreams centuries ago. Nobody ever thought that creating a vehicle independent from fuel was possible. Fortunately with the continuing development of hybrid technology, more efficient and practical vehicles have been created. In the recent years the campaign for global warming has brought the attention of the public. Hybrid cars are now becoming steadily popular available in different types from compact sedans to SUVs.

Environmental issues are not the only reason that has made the public favor hybrid cars. Rising gas prices is also one of the major reasons why people prefer hybrid cars than conventional ones. Its also practical in suburban environments where you don’t really need horsepower but gas mileage.

Hybrid vehicles

There are different types of hybrid vehicles. They can vary from the simplest wheelbarrows to ships. No matter what form they are, these vehicles help in reducing greenhouse and noise emissions. Although these vehicles are expensive due to their unique structures, developments will continue to provide more alternatives to the public. These cars may not compare to conventional ones with a 200 horsepower but why would you need that if you only need 20 in the streets?

The simplest hybrid would be the single wheeled vehicles. These are wheelbarrows famously depicted with sails. This can be seen in Chinese sailing carriages.

The next is two wheeled vehicles. These are usually cycle type vehicles. The best example would be the Moped and electric bicycles. They are powered by an electric motor or an internal combustion engine in combination with the rider’s muscles. This concept was also used in the 1800’s by motorcycles. The electric bicycle can either be a parallel or a series hybrid.

Hybrid vehicles are not just limited to private cars. There are also hybrid power trains used by heavy vehicles. There are diesel or turbo electric buses, railway locomotives, heavy duty vehicles, hydraulic machinery and ships.

In ships a diesel engine drives the electric generator or hydraulic pump which in turn powers one or more hydraulic or electric motors. Sails and engines were early forms of hybrids which may be used again due to rising fuel costs.

More developments are continually being made in hybrid structures and systems for efficiency. Today buying a hybrid car is expensive but it will be beneficial in the long run. It does not just save fuel costs but also removes pollution that can harm the health of the people and take whatever it is left of the environment.

Hybrid Cars : A Quick Introduction

By compudoor On July 31st, 2008

by Joseph Then

It’s unbelievable how one invention and you can save the environment. I bet you don’t know what I am talking about. Well, I am talking about hybrid cars. Unbelievable? I thought so. Well, for those who do not know what a hybrid car is, read on.

A hybrid car, or commonly known as hybrid vehicle, uses at least two distinct power sources to propel. Some of the most common power sources are: rechargeable energy storage system (RESS), a fueled power source, air or electric motor or gas engine.

However, most hybrid cars are commonly referred to as hybrid-electric vehicle (HEV). This includes internal combustion and electric motors. So, what exactly is a HEV?

Let me tell you. HEV is a vehicle which combines a conventional propulsion system with an on-board rechargeable energy storage system. Why combine? Simple, it is to achieve better fuel economy.

However, HEVs are considered more expensive as they are known as the hybrid premium vehicle. They are more expensive as they have extra batteries and more electronics than a basic hybrid vehicle. So, how do you sell you hybrid car if you want to buy a new one? Well, let me tell you this; to sell your car, you have to take a look at the trade-off between higher initial costs and lower fuel costs. This is dependant on the usage of the vehicle. This differs greatly from the traditional direct cost of a car.

Why choose hybrid cars? The most obvious benefit of having a hybrid car is that we can do our part to save the planet as a hybrid car is environmentally friendly. The other thing you have to trust me on is that a hybrid car is fun to drive. If you ever have an opportunity to test drive a hybrid car, you should jump at it right away.

By telling you these benefits, I know it is insufficient to persuade you to get a hybrid car. So, I am going to uncover more about hybrid cars. So, why don’t you read on to find out more?

Other than being environmentally friendly, a owning a hybrid car is easier on your pocket. Why? The fuel consumption is much lesser than that of a conventional car. Overall, the maintenance of the car is so much cheaper than having a conventional car.

Durability of a hybrid car is like the durability of a range rover. Sounds unbelievable but you have to trust me. Its gasoline engine, brakes and also batteries are so durable that the cost of maintaining them are close to nothing.

Are you ready to own a hybrid car? Well, let me tell you this; in a about 10 year’s time most cars on the roads will be hybrids. Even the most popular hybrid car company, Toyota is going to increase production to a million in less than a decade’s time.

Now that you are armed with this knowledge, I suggest that you should atleast consider getting a hybrid car. If you cannot afford it noe, you can get it in the future. Remember, we have to do our part to save the planet.

Hybrid Cars: What’s All The Fuss About?

By On July 30th, 2008

It is a fact that people simply loves hybrid cars. They love hybrid cars because of the benefits it can give them, t6o the other people and the environment. So, what is it about hybrid cars that it is now attracting more and more people to get one for their own?

First of all, if you have a hybrid car, you will be able to cut fuel consumption in half. When was the last time you pulled your car over to a pumping station? If you recently did, you will notice that the price of gasoline is on a constant rise. When compared to conventional cars, hybrid cars will enable you to cut fuel consumption in half. This means fewer trips to the gasoline station. Just imagine yourself driving a car that can travel more than 60 miles per gallon. This may sound good enough for you to get a hybrid car, but there are more benefits that you can get from hybrid cars.

Back in 2005, President George Bush has signed an agreement that lets the buyers and users of hybrid car enjoy huge tax breaks. Because of this, you will be able to save money on taxes. Another great benefit that you can get when you have a hybrid cars are free parking, and some states have imposed a law that hybrid cars should be discounted on toll gates.

Hybrid cars are also known to emit far lower levels of pollutants in the air. This means less air pollution. This will also mean that it will tend to reduce the effects of global warming and will enable you and other people to breathe cleaner air.

These are just some of the things that hybrid cars can give you. You will now ask what kind of technology is inside hybrid cars that makes it so fuel efficient and environmentally friendly.

Hybrid cars are integrated with the hybrid technology currently existing today. In fact, hybrid technology has existed for a long time. It is used on locomotives, it is used on submarines and it is used in some buses in some states and countries.

Hybrid technology is a combination of electricity and the standard engine. For example, in locomotives, it combines the diesel engine and electric engine, and in submarines, it combines the nuclear engine and electric engine. This is far more efficient than letting the conventional engine run on its own.

In hybrid cars, it combines the energy of gasoline engines and an electric motor to power the car. This means that with both engines running, it will lessen the load on the internal combustion engine. The electric motor will share the labor. With this technology it will allow you to save precious fuel and also let you emit far lower volumes of toxic fumes in the air.

For example, if your hybrid car is running idle, it will automatically switch off the gasoline engine and let the car run on pure electricity. This can save you a lot of fuel especially if you are stuck in a gridlock traffic jam.

Today, there are hybrid cars that are designed to run even when the gasoline engine is switched off. This kind of hybrid car will eventually get rid of gasoline station trips. And, it will let you travel without emitting toxic fumes. The gasoline engine will only act as a backup engine when the battery pack runs out of power. The braking and the engine will automatically recharge the battery pack preparing it for another purely electric run. This means that you donÂ’t actually have to plug in your hybrid car to your electrical outlet for it to recharge.

So, if you need a car that runs cleaner, quieter and far more fuel efficient, you should consider getting a hybrid car.
